About Khimsar

Renowned for its magnificent fort, Khimsar is a small desert town located in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan. Plan a stay at Khimsar and get acquainted with the rural life of the desert people. The rustic city of Khimsar has several mosques, one of which was commissioned by Emperor Akbar. Once an individual kingdom, Khimsar was ruled by several rulers.

Khimsar Fort

Built by Rao Karamsi, the 8th son of the Jodhpur founder in the 16th century, Khimsar Fort is a magnificent establishment. It is located on the Thar Desert and it seems as if it has risen from the desert itself. Initially the fort served as a ground for military activities and later it was converted into the royal residence of the royal family. Today the fort is a luxurious heritage hotel offering a unique experience to its guests. The fort houses a stunning palace whose interiors are beautifully decorated with antique arts and crafts. Exquisitely carved windows, lush green gardens, elegant courtyards and opulent guest rooms of the palace leave the visitors awe-inspired.
